Sęp – Płomień Dębe Wielkie: We come from behind as goals from Kryczka and Chromiński secure a 2:1 victory
Today's Matchday 11 fixture against Płomień Dębe Wielkie was a game of two completely different halves. There was little action in the first half, and the supporters could certainly have complained about the lack of excitement. The second half, however, more than made up for what was missing before the break. We witnessed three goals, plenty of battles for the ball, numerous goalscoring opportunities and a red card. But most importantly, our team won 2:1!
There were few goalscoring opportunities in the first half of today's match. Sęp were slightly more active in the opening minutes, but as time went on, Płomień began to appear in our penalty area more frequently. Fortunately for us, none of the visitors' attacks resulted in a goal. We created one good goalscoring opportunity, somewhat by chance. Paweł Mazurek delivered a free kick towards the far post of the opponents' goal. Sebastian Wdowiak first headed the ball back into play, and then Szymon Kryczka attempted a shot from distance. However, he failed to make clean contact with the ball, which bounced and reached Mikołaj Głodek, positioned close to goal. Unfortunately, he missed from very close range.
Earlier, we had also been fortunate when Mateusz Bryl was almost lobbed. A ball cleared from Płomien's half bounced just in front of our goalkeeper and was heading towards the goal. At the last moment, however, Bryl managed to clear it behind for a corner. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
There was considerably more action in the second half. Both teams tried to attack, but it was the visitors who were first to find a way through our defence. In the 50th minute, a through ball played between two of our defenders reached Mateusz Malesa, who was positioned about six metres from goal. With only Bryl to beat, he had little difficulty putting the ball into the net and giving his team a one-goal lead.
As the minutes passed, Sęp's attacks became increasingly dangerous. However, our long-range efforts were off target, and we struggled to find an equaliser. In the 78th minute, Szymon Kryczka took a free kick from just outside Płomien's penalty area after being fouled moments earlier. Szymon struck the ball with great precision, sending it almost into the top-left corner of the goal to make it 1:1! The goal gave us even more energy, and we began putting the visitors under greater pressure.
However, we still had to remain alert in defence. Following one of the visitors' attacks, Mateusz Bryl collided with an attacking player while attempting to intervene, and the ball was heading straight towards our goal, close to the right post. At the very last moment, Adrian Korgul managed to clear it practically off the goal line.
Our attacking efforts eventually paid off. In stoppage time, Kryspin Chromiński finished one of our moves with a shot from the left side of the penalty area, but the ball travelled across the face of goal. Our players regained possession near the touchline and delivered another cross into the penalty area. A Płomień defender headed the ball backwards, and it fell once again to Chromiński. This time, our player made no mistake and scored with a precise half-volley to put us 2:1 ahead!
Immediately after conceding the goal, the visitors' goalkeeper pushed Mikołaj Głodek in an unsporting manner, for which he was shown a red card and had to leave the pitch. We managed to hold on to our lead until the final whistle and secure another important victory on our home ground.
