Fenix Siennica vs. Sęp: We Fought Back After Conceding Two Early Goals but Lost 2–3
In the penultimate match of the current football season, our team suffered a 2–3 away defeat to Fenix Siennica. The outcome of the game was largely determined by the opening stages, when we conceded two goals due to defensive mistakes. Although we managed to pull one back before halftime, our dominance after the break was not enough to turn the match in our favor.

From the opening whistle, the game was evenly contested, with most of the action taking place in midfield. Both teams struggled with accuracy and consistency, but the hosts patiently waited for our mistakes and looked to capitalize on quick counterattacks.

Unfortunately, two such mistakes occurred in the first half. After losing possession during our build-up play, Fenix quickly switched the ball to the flanks and made the most of their chances, taking a two-goal lead. After goals from Dawid Matak in the 7th and 17th minutes, the hosts dropped deeper into defense and allowed us more possession.

As the half progressed, we began to spend more time in the opponents’ half and earned several set-piece opportunities. One of them paid off just before the break. Following a free kick from outside the penalty area, the Fenix goalkeeper spilled the ball, and Michał Zowczak reacted quickest in the box to score from the rebound and give us a lifeline before halftime.

Round 29, Liga Okręgowa - Siedlce, season 2025/26

After the restart, our team controlled the game for long periods. The hosts mainly relied on occasional counterattacks launched with long balls. Despite our territorial advantage, it was Fenix who found the net again. In the 67th minute, Kamil Walas took advantage of a scramble in our penalty area following a failed clearance by one of our defenders to make it 3–1.

Just six minutes later, in the 73rd minute, we managed to reduce the deficit once again. After a quick move through the middle and a switch of play to the wing, the ball reached Mikołaj Głodek, who controlled it inside the penalty area and fired a superb shot into the top corner to score our second goal of the match.

The closing stages were largely a midfield battle. We pushed hard for an equalizer and created danger from several corner kicks, but the score remained unchanged. In the end, we were defeated 3–2 in Siennica and returned to Żelechów empty-handed.
